Jerry SJeremy Stangroom is a British writer, editor and computer programmer.

He founded The Philosophers’ Magazine with Julian Baggini in 1997, which he has co-edited ever since (dealing with the New Media aspects).

He is the author/editor of numerous books, including Why Truth Matters, written with Ophelia Benson, which was a Prospect magazine book of the year in 2006, and Does God Hate Women?, also written with Benson, which is to be published in Spring 2009. Currently he is writing a book for Continuum Books called Identity Crisis; and he is editor (with James Garvey) of Continuum’s new Contemporary Social Issues series.

He has a PhD in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics. And he’s an elected Fellow of the Committee for the Scientific Examination of Religion.

When he’s not writing, he spends his time messing around with computers, taking photographs, running and playing squash.
